Restoration to Porcupine Quill, Shibayama and Other Materials
Restoration is often required for items decorated with shagreen, porcupine quills, Japanese shibayama and the more unusual seashells, agate and other stones. Below are a few photographs to illustrate a little of what we have worked on.
Anglo Indian Porcupine Quill Tea Caddy
This splendid Anglo Indian tea caddy cleaned up very well! As part of the general restoration requested we relaid loose quills, replaced missing ones and carried out remedial work to areas of the horn and bone decoration.

Mughal Cabinet
This 17th century fall front cabinet was made in Mughal India for the European market. In poor condition when it came to us, it is placed in this section to illustrate the variety of skills and materials needed to complete the restoration of some antiques.
